In one study conducted by the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Stringency Index, the Philippines is among those countries with the most rigorous lockdown program in the world.

Our government's enhanced community quarantine is being compared to the COVID-19 response of these superpowers like Russia and China.

This is something to flaunt about when President Duterte meets up with his allies Russia President Vladimir Putin and China President Xi Jinping.

Based on the latest ranking of government responses to the coronavirus from March 20 to May 18, the Philippines was first with a score of 95, which is a notch higher than Russia’s 93 and way ahead of mainland China’s 64.

While, Taiwan has the lowest score and the least rigid with 29. Higher scores indicate more or stricter policies on social distancing and travel controls.

The President's lockdown measures, led by his trusted ex-generals in the Cabinet, covered the entire Luzon which accounted for 70 percent of the economy. 

Duterte’s lockdown will reach its 80 days which is longer than Xi Jingpin’s 76-day lockdown in Wuhan where the virus originated.

The University of Oxford was developed by government response tracker and with collaboration with Blavatnik School of Government has a weighted score of nine indicators:

2) Workplace closure

3) Cancellation of public events

4) Restriction on gathering size

5) Public transport closure
